May I just say, for the record, I totally rock.
The Iris gown has turned out loverly. Now, no one who knows sewing would go quite that far when looking at the seam work on the inside. My seams aren't arrow straight, my cutting could use a little work (pinking shears and I never really got along), and the zipper is in but, lets just say, the only reason I didn't rip it out and do it again (for cosmetic reasons) is because her wings will hide the not-quite-so meticulous way it's sewn in. I had to take it in at the waist and raise the waist line (which I didn't realize until *after* the zipper was in) so there's tucks and so forth on the inside. However, I did manage to pull off a lined bodice and successfully understitched the neckline.
All the little slap togethers aside, from the outside it's really, really wonderful. Now all that's left to do is stitch the cording into a belt and get the hooks and eyes on it; secure the gold cording to the crown base I have; sew up the Grecian Urn/Halloween bag; hem the gown and put the messenger's wand together.
One more trip to Micheal's and one to JoAnn's and I might even pull my costume off before the end of the weekend.
