ok, now that i've gotten all of my cellular concerns sorted out (or will have within the next 24 hours or so), it's time to move on to the next worktime internet obsession: bikes. I've been scouring websites and craigslist and freecycles for a mixte that wasn't too beautiful to modify. what's more is that i've found out that my workplace (being the bastion of public health that it is) will reimburse me for up to $350 a year for exercise-related expenses, which includes a bicycle (and helmet) once every 5 years. and i need to spend this money before june 30 or it rolls over into the void of the next fiscal year.
so this leaves me with the interesting proposition of buying one of these nicer looking, well-tuned racing mixtes and using that as my primary bike, while looking for some other cheap-but-stylish beater to make into an artbike. this plan would probably involve selling Horse, who's been my ever-faithful steed for the last several years. i dunno, should i just leave well enough alone?? I dunno how well a road bike would do against the Cambridge Pothole Challenge. but maybe dear Horse could better serve some other biker, while I move on to more ridiculous and challenging vehicles. it just seems at this point that i'm not going to find the crappy mixte frame that i'm looking for...but omg i still want a mixte!!
