Here is an excerpt from the book I'm writing.

Janey looked at Emme and felt her lip begin to tremble.
"That's the part that no one seems to understand. I can't just break away. He is all I ever think abou. I see him in everything. Just today I stood in the surf, on the very edge of the world and all I could think about was how much better the moment would have been if he had been standing next to me."
She let out a ragged sigh as the tears begin to sting a the corners of her eyes. "He is everything and anything I have ever wanted. He makes me smile more than anyone. He makes me forget this shit hole of a world we live in. He doesn't want me to change. He loves me for who I am. Everyone acts like he treats me so bad. He's only human. He makes mistakes just like everyone else. He may not be perfect, but he's perfect for me."
Janey rubbed her eyes with the back of her hand and stood. "But I seem to be the only person able to really comprehend the situation." She scritched the toe of her shoe on the wet pavement and crammed her hands into the pockets of her hoodie.
"I'm going home."
With that she turned, chewing her lip, and headed down the street. Tears burned ferocious trails down her cheeks. She let out a quiet sob. It wasn't fair. How could anyone judge the type of character Milo was? They weren't exactly the prime example of perfection. Janey knew that Milo cared about her. At least that's what she wanted to believe. She was so confused with all the 'advice' people were grinding into her brain. It made her think about things she didn't want to think about. Like whether or not the only reason Milo was with her in the first place was because he couldn't be with his ex-girlfriend. Janey shivered against the cool breeze that pushed the waves closer to the shore. Janey just wished that she could talk to him for a minute. Just so she could hear his voice. And maybe, just maybe, he might give her some sort of clure as to how he really felt. She ran her fingers over the cellphone in her pocket. She hadn't really heard from him in 2 months. It was agony.
Suddenly, her phone started to vibrate in her pocket. Her heart begin to pound rapidly in her chest. Her breath quickened as she removed the phone from her pocket. A wave of disappointment washed over her when she read her mother's name on the caller ID.
"Where are you?" Her mother's voice was as fake as her nails.
"I'm.." But before Janey could even get the words out of her mouth her mother had already interrupted her.
" Nevermind where you are. How fast can you get here? There is a boy here and I'm late for my hair appointment. I told him you weren't home but he insisted on waiting for you." Janey froze. Could it be? "Uh.. I can be there ASAP." She hung up the phone and stared at the blank screen.
When Janey walked through the front door she frowned. It wasn't Milo, like she had hoped. Instead there sat Elliot. Poor Elliot. She sighed and closed the door.
"Elliot, what are you doing here?" She unzipped her hoodie as the moderately attractive visitor smoothed out his jeans.
"I.. I just wanted to talk to you about something."
Janey looked at him then shuffled over to the stairs and plopped down. Elliot sat beside her cautiously. Janey played with the strings dangling from her hoodie and looked at him.." Um.. Speak."
Elliot cleared his throat nervously.
" Well I know you are really into this Milo guy. And I know that you think he is different from others guys.."
Janey grimace and stood looking at him.
"Look Elliot, save yourself the embarrassment and don't even finish what you are trying to tell me. "
Elliot turned red, furrowing his brow.
"What do you mean?"
"I know what you are going to say."
"And what is that exactly?"
"That you don't think that Milo is right for me. That you could treat me so much better. Blah, Blah. I don't feel like hearing it right now. So save the speech."
Elliot stood and licked his lips, sticking his hands into his pockets.
"Actually, I was just about to tell you that I saw Milo and some girl the other day. They were pretty much ass deep in each other. Thought you would have like to know." He pushed past her and walked out the door. Janey's ears burned and her heart thumped loudly.
Not good. Not good. Not good!
