virgin suicides
last night i watched the virgin suicides. it's a good movie. it's about 5 girls:
therese lisbon 17 years old
mary lisbon 16 years old
bonnie lisbon 15 years old
lux lisbon 14 years old
cecilia lisbon 13 years old
their dad is the math teacher at school and there mom is very strict. they aren't really allowed to do much. cecilia, the youngest, slits her wrists and they find her in a bathtub. she's still alive, but when they were finally allowed to have a little party, cec doesn't really want to stay. so, she asks to be excused and moments later, they all hear a ((thump)) and the run around the house, only to find cec outside, speared by the fence she plumetted to. mom, dad and the sisters are all devestated, but they soon get over the death. later on, trip wants to take lux to homecoming, but in order to be able to do that, trip had to get 3 other boys to take the 3 other girls. he finds 3 other guys and they take the girls to the dance. afterwards, lux and trip go to the football feild and makeout. apparently, they spend the night there, but when lux awakens in the morning, trip is no where to be found. the other girls have already went home for the night and are all awaiting luxie's arrival. she takes a taxi home and her mother is furious. because of luxie, they are all confined to maximum security isolation in their house. they are taken out of school and basically forbidden from seeing anything at all. so, they write letters to the boys they took to the dance (replacing trip with another boy). at the end, lux arranges for the boys to come over and go for a drive. lux invites them in and tells the she'll wait in the car and for the boys to wait for her remaining sisters. they walk around and look at various things until they hear a ((thump)). they run upstairs only to find bonnie, mary and therese dead. they run out of the house, obviously shaken up, and don't look back. the parents find their girls and afterwards, sell the house and the remaining furniture.
cecilia died from jumping out a window and falling on a spear from their fence.
lux died from smoking and staring and letting the car run in the closed garage.
bonnie died by hanging herself in the basement.
mary died by putting her head in the oven.
therese died by overdosing on sleeping pills.
i happen to think it's a good movie, but then again, i like strange things. :P
