i finished printing my bowerbirds, and i've put them up for sale on etsy. they're $5 each, like the
nocturnal prints from last year.
i wasn't sure at first due to my control-freakiness, but i've decided i really like the way they turned out! steve thinks they look like an image on a soft, worn shirt. if i do another bird print, i should probably change the shop name to stellarbirdy.
this was my second time out using my gocco screenprinter, and it was so much more of a pain in the ass-- errrrr, learning experience. i think i've figured a few things out, though, for next time. #1, keep the design mostly linework because gocco is persnickety. i think there is a way you can get it to print large flat areas of color, but it requires experimentation, and that's hard to convince onself to do when it costs at least $5 per screen burnt!! #2, keep the print to 2 screens or less. gocco is terrible at registration. #3, if things go wrong, figure out how to run with it and try to avoid a monstrous freak out. :D
