"i'd be good for you, i'd be surprisingly good for you..."

so last night was a complete blast. jen called me, and while we were thinking of maybe seeing a late movie (i was desperately trying to have her see "how to deal" with me... but i don't really blame her for not wanting to see it), but she ended up talking with emily and we decided to go bowling at thunderbird lanes and dress up in our 1950's garb. before that we met up at the a&w right by there and got our diner-fix... yeah, the stares were interesting but it made me laugh. how could you take three girls with bright scarves tied around their necks and other homages to the 50's seriously?

we bowled two games. i actually won the first one (there's potential for supreme dorkiness) with a 121... we were actually kicking some ass for a couple of girls who never bowl. strikes and spares and the occasional but wonderful gutterballs. i was 'rizzo', jen was 'frenchie', and emily was 'ho ho ho'..... it was great when we'd get a strike/spare and our names would show up on the screen. and of course the music makes things fun too.

it was all great fun. the whole time driving we played my '"evita" plus a few random songs' mix, which has duran duran's "hungry like the wolf" on it. we went to the dairy mat around 9:30 while we got our 80's fix and then drove over to poppleton park to go on the swings and chat it up for awhile. it was the perfect night to be outside with the fireflies and the inner-child.

this morning i was up really early to meet my mom at the new house and help clean. a lot of the furniture was being delivered today, so we had to scrub the wood floors and get rid of all of the construction dirt and wipe down the new furniture. afterwards the rugs were delivered and they look so beautiful with everything else. it's amazing how much stuff they can get done in a day. my mom bought this gorgeous green copper-metal sun at the art fair, and we had it put on our huge tree in the middle of the yard behind the pool. sort of our own little sun god up there... hopefully he'll help bring good weather for saturday.

we went to costco to buy a lot of the drinks for the party. it was my first time there, ah the costco experience. i should say that all we really bought was two carts full of liquor... cases of corona and mike's hard lemonade and jose cuervo and wine and absolut... i swear people passed the two of us in there with our carts stacked up high and thought that we were raging alcoholics, it looked that bad. i actually took a picture of the back of my mom's car because it was just that ridiculous.

willy wonka said it best,

"candy is dandy but liquor is quicker"
