this morning i had my hair appointment with sophie... dyed the hair back to a deep brown like it's supposed to be... so this way i hope i won't have roots showing in a few weeks... and she snipped it up a bit but i'm really just trying to grow it out. even though my hair grows like a weed it's still the most tedious process...
then i met my mom at her office and we picked up her friend sherrie, who lives in our neighborhood and whose kids i used to babysit for, and we made the trek to ann arbor for the art fair. it was the most beautiful day ever, the best type of day for the art fair anyway... clear blue sky, breezy, low 80's... it was heaven.
i ended up getting a large black and white print of this picture taken in venice at a restaurant... it's right by the water and all of these lights are glistening and it's just a bunch of people on the patio... it goes with my whole 'black and white european classic shots' theme for my room... last year at the art fair i got a bunch of teeny 2x2's of paris... pictures of flower vendors and one of them has a statue on the left side and in the distance is the eiffel tower... they are amazing. i'm really excited to get them all framed and decorate.
we also bought these knit purses from this younger gal from chicago... they were awesome. i got a reddish-pink one that has a ribbon woven through the top and a knitted flower sewn onto it... i bought myself one of the pins that she was selling too... of course it has a lot of pink in it... i think that a lot of them are cuter than fabric flower pins...
eventually we made it to this area, i believe it's called 'king's choice' and apparently it costs more to sell in that area, but ah well... the best part about it is the hat lady... she has her store in new york and makes all of these beautiful hats with these different fabrics. last year i got a pale pink bucket-style hat, but i wanted to try on wider-brimmed ones... i ended up with this hot pink hat that i love... and this lady who makes them is so great... she lets you get two scarves with every hat, and you can wrap them around the hat to dress them up. i got this navy blue scarf with white polka dots, a lacy white one and this pink one... i want to wear it to my party so i hope it matches the skirt i was planning on wearing...
so yeah, the art fair was a great experience this year. i'm going again on friday with my mom and vicki, although this time i'll be able to skip over the sections i didn't really like in the first place.
the bottoms of my feet are completely black, between wearing my black flip-flops and all of the dirty roads i walked on... blech. i bought the new intuition razor on the way home... let's hope it's the most amazing thing in the entire world because that would just be wonderful. hah, i love how every radio station that plays jewel's song says beforehand, 'here's a song to shave your legs to!'... so i guess tonight's a night for beautifying.
and tomorrow night is the crying party.
we've been planning on it for a really long time.
everything about today makes me realize it's good to be a girl.
and a confession. today at our lunch/dinner at the prickly pear in ann arbor, they were playing song after song by dwight yoakam. he's a country singer that my mom used to be obsessed with during her country phase years ago... and while i hated the whole thing when i was little, today i loved every minute of it.......
i might have to find me some cowboy boots...
hehe.
'there's a snake in my boot!'
oh, disney.
