To absolutely nobody's suprise, I did not finish the snowflake challenge back in January (yes, that is how long I have not posted here...). But! I am happy to announce that I accomplished one of the goals from challenge 4 and found a new job!
Or rather, the new job found me. I'm a member on Xing, a German social network for business contacts. About every second or third month, I'm contacted there by a recruiter, but it's usually for jobs too far away that would require me to move. In April I was contacted again, but this time it was for a close-ish job. I put minimal effort into an application, had a video interview and an actual, in-person interview, and then they offered me the job last Monday!
I'm happy and relieved. I was so dissatisfied with a lot of aspects of my current job. The last straw was a big crisis talk on Thursday because there are not enough projects and therefore not enough money coming in. I've been working reduced hours since November.
I've also realized that I'm really top qualified by now. I studied and have a degree in technical writing, which not a lot of people do - most people working in my field have switched over from other professions or were more or less voluntarily assigned to the task. And I have years of work experience now with a lot of different machines.

I have a potential appointment for my first Covid shot on Saturday! I say "potential" because I am still 5 % sceptical that they will actually give me the shot. I'll spare you the complicated details about scoring an appointment at one of the official vaccination centers in my state. What it boils down to is that you register online to get a code, which you need to get an appointment. But to get a code, there needs to be an open appointment. Since there are next to no appointments available right now, it's almost impossible to get a code. After a couple of nightly sessions (new appointments get released at midnight), I scored an appointment for my sister with a code I had requested in March when it looked like I might have a higher priority for vaccination. And then my mom scored an appointment for me with a code my aunt had requested for someone else.
I am 95% sure it'll be fine even with all that code swapping, but we'll see on Friday when my sister's had her appointment. This entry is crossposted to https://stellamira.dreamwidth.org/705068.html. You can comment there, too.
