I'm leaving for Sweden tomorrow. I decided on hiking the 163 km (~100 miles) long Österlenleden. I'm sort of ready. I checked my tent for holes (have not tried putting it up), the air mattress, too, both fine. Although I should try to locate the air mattress repair set and take it along. Otherwise, duct tape is your friend.

I prepped little baggies for porridge with oats, powdered milk and sugar for when I'm leaving the coast and hiking through the countryside. Also powdered mashed potatoes and couscous for dinner. I'm sure I will curse the extra weight for the first few days when I don't need it yet, but if I bought it there, I wouldn't have any scales to get the proportions right.

My right calf has been hurting when walking since Rome. It's been better some days and worse on others, but it hasn't gone away yet. The way it is now I can hike with it (and be annoyed with each step), but I fear it might get worse when stressed. I got a salve for it, Diclofenac, but I don't want to bring that along - too heavy.

I managed to downgrade some stuff since the last hiking trip and lose some weight on other things. Who really needs the full handle of a toothbrush when a small stub is enough? I'm also only taking two pieces of underwear - contrary to popular belief that doesn't mean that I'll wear each pair of panties for six days. I just need to wash the one not currently in use every day. I'm still unsure whether to bring a second fleece or if one is enough. Temperatures are supposed to range between 14-19 °C (57-66 °F).
