I feel so endlessly bad when dad buys me stuff and I give it right back to him and/or demand he take it back to the store. Because it's almost never things that I really need, it's just things that he thinks are neat or practical or whatever. That's what dads do. My Dad is exactly the same!

I'm so glad I'm not alone with this.

I guess it is part of why I love him (since it's his way of showing he loves me), but does it get annoying sometimes.

Aww, your dad is so cute. Maybe just have a conversation with him about it? If he feels an impulse, maybe he can send a picture, and say 'was thinking of you!'

Well, that would require him to be able to take a picture and send it to me. ;-) (He knows how to do the first part, the second not so much.) But since it's always something he thinks I must absolutely need, he just buys it.

That's your dad's way to say 'Love you' :))

Still, you don't need to feel bad about giving back his gifts. He sees you appreciating them, that's all he wants. Maybe, though, you should try and talk to him :)

I know it is - sort of - but I wish he'd find a different way.

I do appreciate him wanting to give me something, but I don't appreciate what he buys. Maybe I do need to make it clearer with him.
