One of the former hogar kids in Peru passed away yesterday. I'm not a doctor and I can only vaguely relay what I was told but apparently he had a kidney failure due to suffering from Lupus.
I'm a member of an association giving scholarships to ex-hogar kids so they can study or train for a job. He was one of the kids to receive money from us and we tried to raise more to help with his treatment but I guess it was too late - or maybe there were complications, I don't know the details yet.
I met him the last time I was in Peru in April - at the market, where you inevitably end up meeting everybody. If you're friends with me on Facebook, I shared a picture we took back then.
My thoughts are with his family and little brother who's still going to the hogar.
