fandom(s) ahoy!

karaokegal is hosting her annual Come As You're Not fanfic costume party for Halloween.

From her invitation:

I’m inviting you all to write a fanfic as someone other than yourselves.

Costume examples:
If you’re known for linear narrative, go poetic and out of sequence.

Are you a fluff-bunny? Write angst. (And if you're known for developing hives at the hint of fluff, take a few Benedryl and write some.)

You can read more about it, and/or RSVP, here.

This isn't an official ficathon, challenge, or fic exchange; it's just something fun for Halloween, a way to try something fictionally that you've never done before, that you never dreamed you would do.

It's my first year participating, and I have no idea if I can pull something off or not, but it's going to be fun; at the very least, I plan to enjoy reading everyone else's contributions.

It doesn't matter if you're on karaokegal's flist or not. She's asked everyone to pimp far and wide, and you should go read the post and take a shot at it if you feel at all inclined to give this a try.

3 DAYS UNTIL TORCHWOOD AND DOCTOR WHO S2 ON BBC-A OMG!

Good lord. I'm not usually so capslocky. And I never use multiple exclamation points (see current mood). Just look at what Whoverse fandom is doing to me.

Also, 3 weeks until CSI:NY S4. Yes, I'm excited about that, too. But NY is my longterm relationship, fandom-wise. We're good with each other. We know all the secrets, mundane or otherwise.

Who and Torchwood are my shiny new crushes, offering to buy me dinner and drinks and complimenting my boobs shirt, and, in the case of Torchwood, batting their eyelashes enticingly and bombarding me with cheesy yet charming pick-up lines.

(To wit, at least as I imagine it: "Nice shoes. Wanna fuck?" C'mon, Captain Jack so would.)
