hearts and flowers and MADE OF WIN

If you get BBC America as part of the On Demand choices in your cable package, they're currently showing a 35-minute preview of the premiere episode of Torchwood. I watched it last night, and I am filled with glee and love. For all of it. It was just...fabulous, and I loved everything about it, and watching even that preview (even though the part at which they ended it left me all, "What? Wait, no, more!") made me incredibly happy.

Retcon drug. Heeeee. Their memory-erasing drug is called RETCON. For that alone, I love this show so much already.

And for the pterodactyl.

And for how, when Gwen gets inside the Institute, they're all doing that ultra-serious "ignore the outsider and keep working on esoteric weirdness" routine we've all seen a thousand times, until one of them starts giggling, and sets off someone else, and then they're all laughing hysterically.

And for the ultra-cool scene right at the beginning, which would be a fairly standard CSI/procedural-style scene -- again, one we've all seen a thousand times (and the show precedes this with a nice little meta-humor jab at the CSI franchise) -- where the team does the Walk of Coolness towards the camera and then starts processing the body -- but all of this is being done within the context of the fact that, for them, processing the body means bringing the body back to life by means of a special metal glove, and that doing so also stops the rain in the process.

And. I just. SO AWESOME.

DVR and TiVo listings have also picked up the start of the series proper in their schedules, so if you've been keeping an eye out for it (karaokegal, I believe this means you), go snag that season pass. I know I did.

I haven't had time to watch "Human Nature" yet, but, as I explained to scarletts_awry earlier, this makes perfect sense, because "Family of Blood" isn't airing until next week, due to the holiday weekend, so if I wait until later this week to watch it, I will have less time to wait before I get to see Part 2.

You all need to see this link, which a co-worker sent to me today (mentalhygiene, you'll get a particular kick out of it, I think):
