Understatemets!!!!!

Ok kids.. this is what you have been waiting for..

Let the drama begin. If you want to fight and bitch about either canidate do it here.

Bush won. We need to deal with it and get over it. I voted for Kerry. I hope Bush can prove me wrong. I am a registered Republican. No if you can give me reasonable responces on why you are for everything below. Please do...

I know you're probably sick of reading all the political banter on LJ, but I am enraged, and I feel a pressing need to get up on my virtual soapbox.

Bush is vehemently anti-choice. We may as well kiss Roe v. Wade goodbye now. Bush is the only president who's administration voted against the Environmental Protection Act. Bush is only president in history to vote against The Clean Water Act (which raised the amount of arsenic allowed in drinking water). Bush totally abandoned the Kyoto Treaty which would reduce the amount of greenhouse gasses emitted into our atmosphere (There's be no profit there from his buddies in the oil industry). He works in almost complete secrecy and has had fewer press conferences then any president since the invention of the television. He's the only president in history to try to change The Constitution of The United States, the backbone of our country, specifically to discriminate against a minority group! He supports abstinence-only education and refuses to use federal funds to support programs that encourage people to use contraceptives and be safe about sex. (Think about how harmful just that one aspect is... a whole nation of young people who are forbidden to learn about safe sex and birth control!!) We've lost any allies we've had before this administration because of Bush's atrocious foreign policies (Bush's campaign website (www.GeorgeWBush.com) has been designed so that it cannot even be viewed by anybody outside of the U.S.!). I mean... The Patriot Act alone is reason enough to want this guy out of office. He took away rights guaranteed to us by The Constitution. He believes we're fighting a holy war. He sees The U.S. as "good" and the Iraqi people as "evil." How could someone so incapable of seeing the shades of gray actually lead our country? He turned Clinton's $200+ billion dollar surplus into a deficit that will soon reach the trillions. Oh, and don't give me that "It' not his fault the Assault Weapons Ban didn't pass." He did nothing in his power to renew the ban on assault weapons. 2.1 million jobs have been lost since Bush took office! (And I don't think that's any coincidence, considering that people who are in poverty or who can't afford to pay for college will be more likely to join the military for tuition, thus fueling the war industry.). He is against stem-cell research, which could potentially save the lives of millions of Americans (and humans all across the world) and help people living with disabilities. He's privatizing our prison systems, meaning that prisons will be run by corporations for profit. Thus the more people we have in prison and the more new prisons we need to build, the better is it for these companies. They won't be trying to keep people out of jail, they'll be trying to keep them in. Over 1100 American and countless Iraqi lives have been lost since the beginning of our pre-emptive war... which has yet to be justified. And with No Child Left Behind he's attempting to privatize our schools! Think of the horror that will bring! It's far worse than simply cutting art, music, and language programs out of schools. There are currently about 44 million Americans without healthcare . Does Bush even have a plan for them?

So why?! Why??

I'm not angry that he won, I'm angry that so many Americans voted for this man after seeing what he's already done with our country. And don't give me that "I'm a fiscal Republican" garbage. Look how much money he's spending on the war industry; rebuilding Iraq in Halliburton's image. I've posed this question before, and I'd really like a response... how could any person justify voting for Bush?
And I'm not just angry at Americans for voting for Bush. I'm angry at Americans for allowing 3 seats in the House and three seats in the Senate to Republicans. Not only is Bush running the executive Branch, but he's empowered by the other branches. Just wait until he gets to appoint the Supreme Court justices... I mean, it scares me to even imagine a country where Roe v. Wade is overturned. It scares me too much.

Why?!

Why would anyone actually vote Bush?

I just cannot believe that the majority of Americans support this man. I give them more credit . I just... I find it so hard to believe that so many Americans would actually want this ant-choice anti-sex ed anti-environment anti-gay anti-democracy pro-war religious zealot to lead our country.

Why?!

What reasons are there that could justify his past crimes?

--- Exactly. I know that Kerry isn't much better, and he probably won't even go through with half of the shit he has promised, but hey--you never know. We do, however, know all this about Bush, and once again--he is our president. Wonderful.
