Tidbits

I have had the following song lyrics stuck in my head since yesterday afternoon.

"I got lost in his arms and I had to stay
It was dark in his arms and I lost my way"

I have to lecture at 8 am on Thursday. While I am excited about the lecture material (perspective projections, aka static or pictorial monocular depth cues, most of which are subtopics of perspective projection), I am less than excited about having to achieve brain function at that hour of the day.

I leave for Florida on Thursday night. I should probably get my act together and make sure I'm actually ready to go; plan what I want to see at this conference, do laundry, pack, clean house (as while I don't much mind mess, I don't like coming home to a messy home after a trip of more than a couple days). There is much to be done between now and then... lecture writing, data analysis, data collection, grading, etc.

With all due respect to the acting talents of Ms. Garland, Judy would have been terribly miscast as Annie Oakley in Annie Get Your Gun. Southern hick just isn't her. She's too much of the sweet, innocent ingenue. That and she really can't pull off a southern accent. She was quite awful, really, singing 'Doin' What Comes Naturally', because that song is neither jazz nor operatic and is quite simply not supposed to be pretty. She can't help but be pretty.
