Day 02 Tutorial for Something of Your Choosing Having trouble with something you think/know I'll know about? Leave a comment in reply to this thread with 'opening the door to have help with [item here]' and you'll get your help!
I don't know how people decide what will make a graphic vibrant. I mean, when you look at a tutorial, they use a specific picture and they talk about adjusting red and yellow to this and that and then they show a dullish starting cap and a bright, vibrant ending cap but that technique wouldn't translate to another cap so I guess it's the thought process behind what to adjust that I would find helpful.
Like, people say WHAT they did but not WHY they decided that was the way to go, if you know what I mean?
Ah! Well,it's usually personal opinion and what you, the graphic maker, thinks looks best. It takes some fiddling around and stuff but it's usually just what you like and what you think looks best.
Going by my own thought process - [wow, okay, deja vu to the extreme right now] - I'll usually grab an image and see if I want to make it darker or lighter. I'll play around with that, and then maybe I make it lighter and decide to lower the red coloring on it. Or maybe I make it darker and heighten the saturation.
So when these PSDs or tutorials talk about plugging in specific numbers to create a specific look, basically they've played around with it for hours and this is the end result they're passing on which may or may not work on the specific screencap you're working with.
Precisely. Unless it's fonts or making an actual texture [which is a PSD, I guess? I use a different program from Photoshop, so I guess I would call a PSD a texture], there's no guarantee that anything will work. You can, of course, always plug in those numbers, but you'd probably have to play and fiddle around a little bit to get a finished graphic that you like.

Does this make sense?
