Because it is one of the most original, beautiful ,funny and heartbreaking books I have ever had the pleasure to come across. I enjoy the movie but comparing the movie and the book is like comparing David and the disfigured clay cat I made when I was 7. (Also a HUGE chunk of plot is missing from the movie, like, 1/3 of the book.)
