So Best Buy was going to charge me $85 just to send my Blu-Ray player in for service, plus up to $150 more to actually fix it. This is ridiculous since the whole player only cost $300 to begin with and they now sell some streaming players for around $200. Then I called LG, and they said they would cover parts and labor plus shipping even though the unit should not be covered under warranty because the warranty is only 90 days for everything besides parts. I suspect this means that there is a definite problem with this player, otherwise they wouldn't cover labor, software problems or shipping. The model has also been discontinued, which makes me even more suspicious since I've only had it since Christmas. So basically if you have an LG BD300, it will stop playing DVDs but LG will fix it for free. If you don't have one, don't get one because this is quite a hassle. Now I will be without Blu-Ray and Netflix streaming capabilities in my living room for however long it takes them to get it back to me. This isn't a huge problem since I have both of these capabilities in my bedroom, but my computer monitor is only 22 inches so I will still be mildly inconvenienced. I should not really complain because the vast array of technology in my apartment is more than most actual grown-ups have, and I didn't buy much of it besides DVDs, but I still prefer for it to all work.
Because of the Best Buy annoyance and the fact that Park Place Mall now doesn't open until noon on Sunday, my morning was pretty much wasted. I need a new watch battery and thought it might still be under warranty but there was a crowd of people waiting at the Fast-Fix place, so I didn't really want to wait around for them to deal with everybody else and then put my battery in. I would have gone to a movie to kill time but I had my Blu-Ray player in my car and don't trust the mongrels that roam around Tucson to not break in and steal it. I suppose I could have left it in the trunk or something, but it's hot so I didn't really want to leave it in the car for too long. Just so my trip wasn't a total waste I went to PetsMart to get Elliot things, but I didn't really NEED to do that yet, it was just on the way home-ish. Home is boring though. I can't wait to leave again.
