Where does the Goddess Begin?
Today I’d like to ask, where does the Goddess begin in each of our lives. As a Celtic pagan I am a Living Breathing vessel of the Goddess. As Strega I am body that the goddess can choose to use for her will. But I have a new study I am taking on, Voodoo. Not saying I’m converting, I will always been Wiccan, even if I convert to Strega or Catholic. But I wanted an outside the normal view on the Gods and Goddess.
What may of suspired this idea is I was looking at old Coven photos. Looking at me 2 or three years ago. I thought that to be a vestal of the goddess I had to destroy the non Goddess parts of myself. Boy did I destroy myself. I let others take my life out of my own hands so I could be shaped and molded into what every though the Goddess should look like.
Yeah we all can say my life spiraled down after those days. But to be honest we each have to make mistakes in order to become those the Gods want to use.
And the Goddess in the Celtic world I live in are just as human as us. That is how we understand them and relate to them. That is how we each are part of the Universe. In other pantheons this changes.
From what I understand in Voodoo each person is governed by there own deity as part of there soul, these deities need only to his the manual button and take control of our bodies as they “ride us”. I can just imagine if Aironhood decided to do that to me I would be in CA on some mountain over looking the sea, so when my Soul twin rapes me I can toss the boys out of my life. LOL, okay that was harsh. But I want each of us to think for a second about our personal deities, where do they begin and end in our daily lives? I am not talking about holidays where we honor them all day. I am talking about the Gods of our daily lives.
As for me, being the eclectic I am, Anubis being my God of passage and change, is always with me, around me, on my shoulder. Every moment I know he is guiding me through door and passages of life. But I never think about it, he never gets special recognition or anything from me, only the ink on my leg of the Ankh reminds me to say thanks.
As for the Celtic Wiccan I am, Ahrionrod is praised only on the special days or when I need something. I think I need to change that. I should let her have control of my daily life too. Or thank her on a daily bases.
The Gods we honor I believe, should be honored everyday. They are the breath of my life, the nature of me, and I should honor that every day.
*Today’s Spell Work*
So tomorrow or Thursday is the Full Moon, and I plan on writing tomorrow on the subject. Today’s wasn’t planned, it was a spur of the moment, “hey I haven’t touch on this subject yet, maybe I’m not the only one with this idea” sort of posts. So I won’t give any Full Moon spells or fun things like that. I am mealy going to give you the Charge. I Love “The Charge of the Goddess” and I spent a week hand writing one in Ink for my Book of Shadows when I first began. Now for those who have never read on the charge or wondering how I feel about it here are my pointers.
*Yes the charge was made up combining different things.
*No, I do not take the Charge word for word, it was written in a different time than our modern age.
*Yes, the charge is important to every Wiccan.
*No I don’t practice Sky clad.
Now that I’ve answered your question please enjoy! So here is “The Charge”!
The Charge of the Goddess
Whenever ye have need of any thing, once in the month, and better it be when the moon is full, then shall ye assemble in some secret place and adore the spirit of She, who is Queen of all witches. There shall ye assemble, ye who are fain to learn all sorcery, yet have not won its deepest secrets; to these will She teach things that are yet unknown. And ye shall be free from slavery; and as a sign that ye be really free, ye shall be naked in your rites; and ye shall dance, sing, feast, make music and love, all in Her praise. For Hers is the ecstasy of the spirit, and Hers also is joy on earth; for Her law is love unto all beings. Keep pure your highest ideal; strive ever towards it; let naught stop you or turn you aside. For Hers is the secret door which opens upon the land of youth and Hers is the cup of wine of life, and the cauldron of Cerridwen, which is the Holy Grail of immortality. She is the gracious goddess, who gives the gift of joy unto the heart of man. Upon earth, She gave the knowledge of the spirit eternal; and beyond death, She gives peace and freedom, and reunion with those who have gone before. Nor does She demand sacrifice, for behold, She is the mother of all living, and Her love is poured out upon the earth.
She who is the beauty of the green earth, and the white moon among the stars, and the mystery of the waters, and the desire of the heart of man, calls unto thy soul. Arise, and come unto Her. For She is the soul of nature, who gives life to the universe. from Her all things proceed, and unto Her all things must return; and before Her face, beloved of gods and men, let thine innermost divine self be enfolded in the rapture of the infinite. Let Her worship be within the heart that rejoiceth; for behold, all acts of love and pleasure are Her rituals. And therefore let there be beauty and strength, power and compassion, honor and humility, mirth and reverence within you. And thou who thinkest to seek Her, know thy seeking and yearning shall avail thee not unless thou knowest the mystery; that if that which thou seekest thou findest not within thee, then thou wilt never find it without thee. For behold, She has been with thee from the beginning; and She is that which is attained at the end of desire.
