The Arashi Voice!

Jul 06, 2009 16:38

The AraShi VoicE is

good in strength,

relatively powerful and strong.
It is clear, playful, full of emotion, high pitched....
It's composed of five totally different VoiCes...
It's the only STORM that rocks my world!

Let's differentiate these 5 captivating voices of our boys...

相葉雅紀 Aiba Masaki

  • For example, you don't know Aiba-chan, after hearing his voice, you'll surely conclude that this guy is the SweeT and Good Guy Type! He has that cuTe and HumoroUs soul that all girls are looking for!
  • I prefer him sing in a group rather than solo. As a solo singer, sometimes you'll find him plain and boring in some parts (well not for those who claim that they are Aiba-chan's wife ^^) especially when the song's melody doesn't fit his voice very well. But I'm sure it'll be a hit once he find his perfect music style!
  • Yup he's the one with the most distinctive voice in Arashi. It's soft and breathy and it really sounds very sweet.
  • He harmonizes with each and every member perfectly! His voice is just too darn flexible that it fits Ohno's, Matsumoto's, Ninomiya's and Sakurai's very well!
  • His voice is an important element to the whole Arashi voice as he serves as the calm, relaxing point after all of the high, playful (sometimes stressful) notes of the other members.
  • Pairing him up with Sakurai gives that cool, low range pitch that fits very well for a second voice.
  • Matsumoto-Aiba, Nino-Aiba and Matsumoto-Nino-Aiba tandems bring in the playfulness and difficulty of the songs. These are just some things that Arashi cannot be famous without!
  • Nino-Aiba-Sakurai consists of Nino's powerful voice that contradicts the cold and low of Sakuraiba, a perfect balance with Matsumoto-Ohno's voice.

二宮和也 Ninomiya Kazunari

  • His voice always sounds like that of a typical shy and handsome boy-next-door, one who hasn't come out of the shell of innocence. (haha well put!) (well, somehow he tried in his song Gimmick Game which revealed his naughty and sexy side. But still you're our 17 year-old NEENER!)
  • Singing in group or in solo, either way, he always comes out excellent! People always get what they want.
  • He often sings the verses that requires the skillful art of flexibility of the vocals, yeah, the one with "low-high-low-high-high" notes, he just always surprises me everytime I hear him sing and deliver these parts EFFORTLESSLY but with brilliance (even in clarity! perfect!) (bravo! bravo!). It always sounds like they were never that difficult to sing!
  • As the second best singer, I can say he's also good as a second voice where it requires blending his voice with everyone in the group, adding beauty to the song. (an example is in Sakura Sake).
  • He knows how to put a lot of emotion into his singing more than others, probably because of his huge knowledge of music.
  • He's a powerbelter too, just like Riida, but I've never heard him nail it (that great) when with the group. Yes he normally sings the high notes, but Riida always get that part I'm always waiting for near the end, that "oooh...oooh...oooooh..." and "oh-oh-oh-ooooooh yeah-yeah-yeah" thingy.
  • There are times when you hear someone with Sakurai when rapping, he's also the one behind that blending voice (and sometimes with Aiba-chan).
  • I really believe he's able to rap too, and with that voice of his, he'll just cast all the girls under his spell!
  • However, be careful Kazu-kun. When he's off key, I really mean he's way off key. Well, I mean, good singers still commit mistakes right, Nino wifeys? :P It's just that his voice is distinct that you will easily notice the style of singing word per word.

松本潤 Matsumoto Jun

  • He's known for that high-pitched nasal sound.
  • I think he's better in a group than solo until he finds that music style that will fit his voice. His voice has few choices of tune that would work perfectly and sound nicely together with his voice. (Though, I like La Familia because for me this song is the one which he really sang from the very very bottom of his heart and also Yabai-Yabai-Yabai...he is SO DARN CUTE there!)
  • He may sound irritating (well, not for me! #^^,#) but actually he's the one who shapes the whole Arashi voice. It is good in strength, relatively powerful and strong. It is clear, playful, full of emotion, and not to forget, Arashi voice is high-pitched, but still stays flexible, and not annoying to the ears as moderation and support always take part. And Matsumoto's voice contributes the most for the Arashi voice being in the high tone.
  • Matsumoto's voice oftentimes belongs to the lead vocals, particularly, the Matsumoto-Ohno pairing, Matsumoto-Ohno-Nino, and Matsumoto-Ohno-Sakurai tandems.
  • Matsumoto-Aiba voice is a good moderator for Ohno-Nino's strong and "just-too-perfect" voice as Aiba's voice also controls the high nasal sound of Matsumoto.

櫻井翔 Sakurai Sho

  • His voice pretty much sounds like that of a downtown street thug (but a handsome one). Low, strong and manly, but playful and lively at some times!
  • If we talk about RAP, group or solo, he's just great!
  • Just what would we do without this beautiful creature, his rap always completes most of the Arashi songs.
  • He's born to rap, his style and gestures, ability to compose rap,and his low, manly voice, he's a perfect rapper.
  • He also knows how to sing, though, he seems to sound hoarse at times and he's not that good when it comes to voice control, that is, there are times when he sounds shaky.
  • His rap balances the songs with a touch of the hiphop genre and a downtown badboy image.
  • He oftentimes stay in the regulator vocals together with Aiba, they have the cold, soulful, and deep in pitch voice, avoiding the song to sound too pitchy and annoying.
  • Pairing him up with Aiba-kun makes them the perfect bass singers in the group, perfect to oppose the tenors.

大野智 Ohno Satoshi

  • He always sounds like a total award-winner, be it ballad, rock, pop or any other genres, he's just sooooo talented. (Tres Bien for you captain!)
  • Group or solo... He always nails it! No doubt he's the lead singer!
  • He has that nice, smooth tone, good flexibility and strength and to top it all off, his consistency is incredible! Lipsync or live, it's really hard to tell, because he sounds the same.
  • As the powerbelter of the group, he often sings that part in the end, yup, that "oooh...oooh...oooooh..." and "oh-oh-oh-ooooooh yeah-yeah-yeah" thingy I was talking about earlier.
  • Whoever you pair him up with, he doesn't overwhelm his partner/s, in fact, he supports them making it easier for them to sing in whatever difficulty, the resulting tandems are no wonder the lead vocals in the song.
  • As a solo singer, because of his consistent brilliance, he tends to stay flat and off the edge, the excitement wears off. Maybe because of his choice of songs when singing. I think he should come out of that "good guy" shell of his, and try something new.

They may have different voice range, characteristics and quality, but the Arashi Voice wouldn't be completed even only one is absent... That's AraShi!!!
