Halloween and another national holiday are coming up on the horizon!
My two favorite days of the year and they are so close together...
Oh joyous day 21 years ago on the 26th of October when Mama Steiner gave birth to a disgruntled baby and named her Erica. If I were home I would do my annual drive by and salute of Newton-Wellesly hospital where this little cupcake of terror came into the world. My dad has forgotten about my birthday, except that this is my 21st so now he has a drinking buddy... yay alcoholism. My only real need is to get rid of that horrible picture on my dirver's license which is when I was 15 and had pink hair and was just... awkward. But now I am 21! with reddish hair and am... awkward. Oh well, some things never change.
OLD HALLOWS EVE!!! Oh god, I love it! I don't send out christmas cards, but I have halloween cards... oh yes I do and you are rolling your eyes because I am like a version of my mother that someone put in the microwave and it warped. I just love halloween. I wish I was home and I could give out candy to the 10 or fewer trick-or-treaters that come around to our door. When I have a door of my own I want to really scare them. They will get a trick AND a treat from me. The treat will be a fresh pair of underwear to replace the ones they have just soiled. The term "give me a chocolate log" will take on a whole new meaning.
So what has this post taught us? Huzzah for alcoholism, Huzzah for Halloween, and Huzzah for Underpants, which, by the way, is the name of the play I am producing and would like people to come see october 28th at 7:30, 29th at 2:00, and 29th at 7:30. It is incredible funny and I will be 21.
