Today I went to Culver City to see the work of Carlos Ramos (of Nickelodeon, etc. animation fame) with my friend/co-worker Sabrina. Free things and hilarity ensued. Here's some of his work that we saw:
It was delectable... and the hot gallery worker I've met before was working, and I noticed he had orangey-red autumn leaves tattooed realistically on his arm. Sigh.
www.coreyhelfordgallery.com They ALWAYS have good shows.

He gave us 6-7 free posters from a previous show promoting peace in the middle east. Very nice, and made me swoon more.
This followed by a delicious lunch at the Bluebird Cafe (
www.bluebirdcafela.com ). I had a pesto mozzy tomato sammy, salad and delicious garlic fries, with a glass of wine that the busboy/server refilled w/o asking or charging me :) We finished with a yummy red velvet cupcake that they make there, and after the cashier rang me up, he told her not to charge me. Hmm? I still don't know, but I'm going back for sure.
We also ran into some very cool, very intriguing architecture, that if I'm not mistaken is Cubist in style, yet am confused because I'm almost certain I learned the only Cubist architecture around the world is in Prague. I'll have to look into that...anyway I wanted to move right in:
I want those windows!!!
And then even fun on the ride home:
There seems to be a fracture in this person's self-perception. At least they're quoting Adolf Hitler in their Tahoe.
and Yeah! Fuck that Shit, Man!!
All in all a good day, which makes me sad to think I might be moving next year.
