After over 10 years…

I no longer have a fresh water fish tank in operation. Yesterday my friend D met me at the new house and after unloading stuff from my car, we came back to the soon-to-be-old-house and broke down the tank. Two five gallon buckets of water; two pots of gravel; one cooler of water, fish and plants; bagged filters; the supply crate; a stand and the aquarium itself were then loaded into my car and we drove over to his place. He’s now busy settling them in to their new home.

Over the last two years I found myself with less patience and desire to take care of the setup and I didn’t want to have the tank at the new place, so when I mentioned to him that I was going to sell off the tank he offered to take it. Happiness all around.

In other news, I’m about 1/3 of the way moved. My downstairs room is about done with just furniture left for the movers. I have five bags/boxes of books to sell plus a couple of computers I want to craigslist. I’m also ridding myself of some furniture (my bookshelves, some plastic drawer units and shelves). Tomorrow I plan on cleaning the bird cages out on the back balcony while the house cleaners are here and then I will move my china and other kitchen items to the new house.

I’ve been moving as much small stuff as possible so I can semi-nest as I unload my car. The new place is also very close by (just a few miles closer to downtown) so I got the garage door open from Nyar and park in this garage, load my car and then drive to the new place and unload. I’ve managed five trips (although the fish tank counts as number six sort of) and feel less frazzled then during the last move. Wednesday movers will arrive for my furniture so the goal is to have most of the small things moved.

It will be a busy week and no Thanksgiving dinner unless I find a place that’s serving-although I’m toying with the idea of cooking a small fowl and fixings for just Agent Smih and myself.
