I had to work a half-day yesterday, which was fine, but it made my weekend a little briefer than normal. So today was extra productive to make up for it.
Laundry is going to be continuous, until we work through the massive backlog. I will shortly have many clothing items available; anyone who wants to try things on before I donate them somewhere is welcome. So there have been a couple of loads of laundry, today. Bonus: Found two tops I've been missing, which went into a lower-priority bag by accident.
The big accomplishment for the day is the construction of the husband's navy blue Hedeby tunic. Knee-length, shaped sleeves, gussets at sleeve and neck, four gores, hand-hemmed at neck, sleeves and hem. Needs embroidery (red and yellow, probably), still, but construction of my own underdress and a new apron dress will come first.
Tomorrow, before and after work, I'll make my own underdress from the same navy wool (optimally, I'll get it built before work and take it in to hand-stitch the hemming). During work, while I'm waiting for other people's stuff, I'll cut the new apron dress, and then make it either when I get home, or on Monday (can't guarantee how much I'll get done, since when I'm there, they do expect me to actually work). Embroidery eventually; probably white. Need the same for the green underdress I already have.
Bonus: In all that laundry, I came across additional fabric I can use for additional dresses. I've had just one, and I really want some variety. I have an OD green silk and a red not-silk that's a shade that's difficult to describe. Raspberry, maybe. Eventual embroidery on both of those, too. I also dug out a random length of embroidered wool that MIGHT become a 12th Night dress. And there are several random lengths (courtesy of
marlenemcc) of sari silk that need to become garb for both of us. Hmmm ...
Ooo. And when we've laundered the partial bolts of raw silk that were hiding behind the back-bedroom door, they become garb, too.
For embroidery ... can use SOME of the red wool I borrowed from Kris, but will need to find more and in other colors. I miss my local yarn shop!
Apparently, I am thinking out loud about garb, tonight. Ideas welcome.
In unrelated news, the kittens are absurdly cute. Today, we learned about litter boxes. Tomorrow, we may try actual food.
Right now, one of them is curled up on Padraig's armor bag, sound asleep. The other has claimed a foam egg carton that the dog pulled out of the garbage sometime last night. Every time I pick the baby up, as soon as I put it down, it goes straight back to the egg carton. Yes, I will deprive the kitten of and throw away the egg carton, tomorrow when the baby is not sleeping. True to form, Leif (brown and stripedy, and our explorer) is at ground level and Tenzing (gray and stripedy, and our climber) is at elevation (We give our kittens call-names while they're with us, and those are theirs).
