why....?

So if you neglect to inform the tech guy that you use a program, and he doesn't bother installing said program on your new computer because he's not a mind reader, and you need this file desperately so you decide that Steffannee can help you out... why would you make it as difficult on her as possible?

Just an FYI: My computer runs a little slow at work. It does it's best, and I try not to overload it. I know what screws it up and what doesn't. Also the disc drive died. Some discs it will read, most it wont.

So the problem is at the other office, they need to print this insert. On a program they no longer have because they plum forgot to mention that they used it when the tech guy got them a new system. So they decide to send a disc down so that I may do it. Simple right?

No.

First, the note I get left is very generic and mysterious. "Steffannee. See if you can open "this file"' Literally... "this file" was in quotes. So I pop the disc in. Eureka! My computer decided to read this disc! But it's chugging. I can't imagine why. If there's only "this file" on it... why should that be so difficult?

Because they sent me a disc with the entire contents of their hard drive. Soak that in for a moment. THEIR ENTIRE HARDDRIVE. FOR ONE #%*(!@_%#@%$)_!^( FILE! And no mention of what I'm looking for either, something named "this file" wasn't on there... ~_~ Finally, because I've learned to be a mind reader after all these years... I figured out what they wanted. 20 minutes to get to the folder (I'm not kidding). FINALLY find it, and just set the whole folder I need to copy to my desktop. It's one ad file and about 8 images. About 12 megabytes. It was going to take 20 minutes... But whatever... Things were fine. Till it encountered an error and canceled the whole operation. That took 5 minutes. Another 5 minutes to coax my computer to eject the disc.

I decide to try someone else's newer computer. Same thing. I give up. They got an email yelling at them to just email me the damn file and the images I need. Why is that so hard? T_T The whole thing took me an hour. For nothing. I have so much other stuff to do, people could throw me a bone every once in a while y'know?

I mean honestly. I can understand being computer illiterate. But even if you're so dumb you can't figure out how to copy & paste, when is sending someone the whole of the contents of your computer EVER a good idea?
