Millennium Season 2 review

Hi guys!

well, i've just finished watching season 2 of "Millennium" - and if you are just thinking "Hu?" - it's a show from the X-Files mastermind Chris Carter about the profiler Jack Black - who worked for the Millennium group to solve brutal murders of serialkillers

Well - at least in season 1. There have been drastic changes to the show in the second season - chris went back to the x files and some other guys took over the duty as show runners - but they changed the show so much it actually felt like watching an entirely different show.

First of all - Jack's wife and family was an integral part of the show for its first season. They were the counterpart for the dark, disgusting world of his work - his wife Kathryn and his little daughter Jordan lived with him in their yellow house - a place of heaven.

Well - that's something they got rid of. Kathryn left Jack and the yellow house.. and jack moved to his own house. For a show were the two main characters are Jack and his wife - that was a bold move. Even more - not showing her at all for at least one quarter of the episodes.

But there was an even greater change to the show - they turned the millennium-group upside down. In season one, this was a group of highly skilled investigators. In season two - they turned into a mysterious society who wanted to take control of the world and predicted the end of days and stuff like that. Sounds strange? YEAH - it was. And it made no sense whatsoever - considering what they did in season 1. I mean, why should a group like that even be interessted in solving crimes? Thats just stupid and made no no no no no sense.

but the most drastic one happend in the finale episode of season 2. they actually killed of cathryn. of course, i knew it was coming. i've read about it in wiki and .. yeah - they haven't used her properly at the beginning of the season, but nevertheless - it's a huge mistake in my opinion. in every episode she was not in, you had the feeling that something was missing. some integral part of the show was just not there. and you have to realize - that's not an ensemble show like BUFFY .. Jack and Cathryn were the only people in the main titles.

but in the end - at least it gave them the opportunity for the best scenes of the show yet. The moment where Jack tells Cathryn that the group had given him vaccin and that he got one more from laura (a colluege who went crazy after learning the truths of the group) - Cathryn told him to give it to their daughter .. and of course - in the middle of the night, she wakes up, bloddy and with the knowledge, that her end is very near. she says goodbye to them and goes into the woods to die - which is so heartbreaking. the last scene of the show i jordan waking up and finding her father (Jack Black) sitting by the window - deeply shocked and grieving - his hair turned white. yeah - i cried as well..

so, that it for this season - one more to go

Season 2 of Millennium gets 6.5 out of 10 possible points :)
