Well life has been interesting, yet quite boring since the last time I updated. The whole family's been sick this week with some kind of stomach virus. I think we got it from Megan.
Megan's social security card came the other day; however, the idiots misspelled Megan (Negan), so Lance and I had to go to the social security office to file for a name change. I'm hoping her birth certificate doesn't have her name misspelled too. Lance just left to go back to Texas to get his tools from a job out there. He'll be starting to work on the Hooters here in a couple of days. It'll be so nice to have him home all the time again, and perhaps this way, we'll be able to finally rent a house. The Hooters in Bossier will be directly on the Red River, which will be cool except if it ever floods, they're screwed. They're putting in a whole bunch of stores and restaurants right next door to Bass Pro Shop, which means that area will be hell after everything's open. There's a whole peice of land next to BPS that hasn't even been touched. I can only imagine what will go in there.
I took the COAST 7000/7001 civil service tests Saturday. I haven't received my scores yet, but based on my typing skills score (65 words per minute with no mistakes...not my best score), I believe I have nothing to worry about. I'm going next Saturday to take the PET, so I can qualify for even more jobs. I really don't want to work, but I'm going to have to. I found a babysitter that'll watch Megan for $60 a week in her house, so that's good. I don't know how I feel about putting Megan into daycare because I would much rather be the one watching her, but unless some great opportunity comes along where I can work from the house, she's going to daycare.
Yeah, told ya my life is boring right now. Mom just got a job with AllState, which means she has to take a lot of classes for certification to sell insurance (right now she can't answer the phones), but once she does that, she'll do great. Michael has a job, but can't start until after his physical. At least they're all set. Now if only I could find a job. I don't get it. I have a college degree, plus some experience (particularly in customer service), I know all the Microsoft packages, and I have tons of other qualifications. So why is it so hard for me to find a job with benefits. There's an open receptionist position at Fellowship UMC down the street, but they don't offer benefits. The hours are great (8-2:30 M-Th, 8-12 F) and I can put Megan in their daycare for practically nothing (meaning she'd be right there), but again, they don't offer benefits. I have an interview Sunday with the church board, and I'm sure I'll get the job, but I'm not sure if I should take it or not. This is so frustrating!
Anyway, I hear Megan moving around in the bedroom, so I better go check on her. This is her normal naptime, but she probably needs a diaper change or bottle. I miss Baton Rouge, but I don't miss my apartment! I actually got a refund back on the deposit, so that was exciting.
