Download Firefox {Edit: or MyIE2} ........ NOW!

And before anyone asks no i don't mean the classic Clint Eastwood film by the same name, though you should get it too.

No i mean Mozilla Firefox a rather spiffy new browser that Real Life was pimping. Now for the last .... 3 or 4 years many people have been trying to convince me to move away from IE, but through sheer lazyness and thoughts of "better the devil you know" i've stuck with it until now. Firefox was an interesting new experience, the joy of tabbed browsing, being able to skin the browser and built in things that i previously had to DL pluggins for.

Just after i wrote the above i consulted a guy on my course who is knowledgeable about such things, he tried Firefox and said the browser he was using did all the same good things, but did them better. Anyway this even spiffier browser is called MyIE2. The only disadvantage of it over Firefox is that for some inexplicable reason Firefox seems to load pages faster. I can't explain that at all, same connection same page and even if you use Firefox on a page you've never been to before it still loads it noticeably faster. But unfortunately that speedyness isn't enough for the moment to sway me from MyIE2. The tabbing in MyIE2 works better and is more versatile, it allows you to group tabbed websites together for reloading. I use the latter for LJ and WebComics, its handy to be open all the pages you want in a block .

Anyway enough of this geeky shenanigan talk, i suggest you download one or both of the above and try them out, trust me after about 5 minutes you won't want to go back to Microsoft IE6.

(Sidenote: One feature i plan to use (and those of you who make web pages and some way shape or form will like too) in Firefox is the "DOM Inspector". Think "View Source" on other browsers except this not only displays the HTML, it nests it and by clicking on it you highlight what the code refers to. Possibly not that useful for your own websites seeing as you'll know what everything refers to, but on other complicated websites (think the uber-nested < tables > of livejournal) it is really really handy.)

In other news i still have no idea why i watch and normally like romantic comedies. It defies logic, they are normally bad, not terribly romantic or comedic and yet i watch them. Maybe subconsciously i appreciate the irony of the fact every one of the films end the precise opposite way that these situations end in real life. Either that or the chicks in them tend to be pretty hot.

Tonights piss poor romantic comedy was even more piss poor than normal, titled Boys and Girls, i actually thought it was a substantially less piss poor film (Down To You) which was made in the same year. Anyway the piss-poor-ness of Girls and Boys isn't just the shockingly bad and wooden acting or the bland, mediocre and paper thin plot that has been done 101 times before. No, the worst part was the script, it was blatantly written by someone with no understanding of women what so ever, i should know we can smell or own (the first person to SWIDT gets a pint or two). Anyway i think the other worst part of the film was it almost made me nostalgic about the student life i'm about to leave behind. As shocking and unlikely as that sounds its sad but true. You always want what you can't have and i always want to make myself unhappy, hence i always remember things being better than they actually were.

Lastly on a film related note i think i'm going to go see HP: atPoA tomorrow (or maybe weds) night to avoid the hordes of little kids, funnily have heard both good and bad things about it but am keeping an open mind. I was also freaked out to realise it has been almost a year since HP: atOotP was released so i think i may read it and HP: atGoF over the next wee while. Most likely on the various trains i will be getting from here to inverness over the next month. (If you don't know what i'm talking about ignore)

Time for Stanley Cup Finals on TV. (If you don't know what i'm talking about ignore)

PS That is fucked up! My Titanium watch, which i haven't changed the settings on for nigh on 9 months still not only has the right time but the right date too. I mean how is that even possible? On a digital maybe it could keep track of the year but how can an analogue? The only other possibility is the folks who repaired it sorted it. Either way its kinda funny because i was almost sure that watch didn't have a date on it LOL.

PPS Just spell checked the above and the LJ Client suggested that "lvejournal" should be changed to "clitoral" LOL.
