Okay, so I was only just "saved" by vegetarianism yesterday, but I'm coming home for spring break this weekend and I'm not sure I want to mention it to my parents...but I think I have to. I'm afraid of them getting all patronizing, "aw, isn't she cute, going through this phase" kind of thing for me and I hate that. That's what they were like when I ( Read more... )

try chocolate soy milk first ... silk takes awhile to get used to, but the chocolate is easier to ease yourself into. ... or try goat's milk or organic brand. like this or this (we drink horizon at home).

I grew up on goat's milk and soy milk until Danny died (can we say lactose intolerance?), so I rarely had moo-milk until I was a teen. And for cheese (american, at least), try veggie slices! They taste pretty good and are great for grilled cheese. (there are some brands listed here)

I hope this helps; welcome to the veggie sisterhood!!

I mostly just use milk for cereal. And since I eat unsweet cereals mostly, like Total, the sweetness of the soy milk was strange! Is goat milk gotten in a more humane way than mainstream cow milk?

I went through a vegetarian "phase" too when I was younger. But mine really was a phase. I stopped it when my hair started falling out in big clumps and I stayed sick all the time(scary stuff)Make sure you get enough viatamins. I'm with freckles, try Choclate soy milk, its not half bad. If you are coming home this weekend you should come over to the apartment, there is a belated birthday celebration for me and Garland happening on Saturday. Call me and I will give you the details!

I don't get in till Saturday night. :( But I definitely want to hang w/ y'all next week so I will still call you!

I take Centrum multivitamin every day. I have been since I started school here because I figured pizza and Chinese wouldn't quite do it lol. About the soy milk, I just needed milk for cereal and chocolate doesn't work for that. But I found an organic milk here that comes from a farm where the cows are out in the pasture and not confined inside 24/7 so I'm going to try that one (after I choke down the rest of this soy).
