Lomboko

They called me on Lomboko. I suppose I knew they would, sooner or later. I'd just hoped to be gone before they did.

As it happened, we were all too late.

I can't be sure which one of the three of them figured it out. Harris? Spike, showing that natural paranoia works out sometimes? Maybe Nabbit, since he is supposed to be a genius. Doesn't matter, in the end.

They figured out that I wasn't telling them everything. In my defense, I never lied, and in spite of my feelings towards Spike, I did nothing to deliberately get anyone else hurt. This was my fight. My mother taught me, a long time ago, that you should finish what you start. That's all this was.

They realized that there was no reason for Lomboko to keep coming if all that I'd done was piss him off. They realized that if Lomboko wanted me dead that badly, there was something more to what I knew.

And they were right.

Lomboko had come into possession of an amulet. What it was called, where it was from, I never knew. I do know, though, that Lomboko intended to use it to cast Las Vegas into a perpetual night, like a dome of permanent darkness over the city. The humans were willing to go along with it...after all, this meant Vegas could literally become the City That Never Sleeps, and the neverending nightlife would have been a boon to them.

Never mind that Vegas would become the world capital for vampires and demons who would never have to fear the sun again. Never mind that this would be sentencing the innocent people who lived in Vegas to death, or worse.

Lomboko found out that I knew about his plans. That's why he'd been trying to kill me. He thought I'd tell the Slayer, and she'd come back with me and end his operation. He didn't know I couldn't go back to Buffy Summers, not after what I did...but I knew of someone else I could supposedly go to. Angel.

But when I found out he was gone...I knew it was up to me to stop Lomboko. My fight, like I said. That's why I didn't tell anyone everything...until tonight.

And that's when he showed up, just a few minutes ago. Lomboko himself. With timing right out of a bad horror movie.

The others didn't know what to make of him. Over seven feet tall, hard muscle, hooves and claws. Silent...he never even growled. He just crashed through the front doors and looked to kill anyone in his way.

Spike and Harris tried their best to mount some kind of offensive. The last I saw of them, right before Nabbit pulled me into the inner office in the lobby, was Lomboko throwing them around like rag dolls. A few moments later, Lomboko was in here with us. Nabbit never stood a chance. I can't tell if he's still breathing.

I can't do much against him in the shape I'm in...not that it mattered with the others. He's got me.

Barring a miracle, he's won.
