Just dumping these notes somewhere to remind me to follow up on them along with the Pentathlon idea-

diamonds = jiujitsu (submission grappling)

(Note to self: Add in pistol point-shooting and you have 5 events)

In other news I am deciding which grappling club to join locally- the choice ranges from the very formal to the very rough-and-tumble - and working out how I can train in pugilism by myself to complete the skillset. Cane, fortunately, is relatively easy to maintain as a variant of my fencing training, personal studies and having access to Canne Italienne practitioners so this is the least concern.
