Trailer Woes

Snow is great. There is a bunch of it here. Well, not really according to the Ohio-ans. They say its nothing. a half inch to one inch. But I think it is amazing. It is the kind of snow that I can make into pathetic powdery snowballs and throw at people and completely miss. I wish I had taken a before and after picture but there are reasons why people don't like me around when it snows. A fresh pretty blanket was on the back deck and I had decided to make a pretty pattern out of footprints. I think I did a pretty good job at enhancing nature that way.

Today has been "get Tigress ready to come home" day. It has been full of cleaning out the trailer, fixing the Aussie saddle I will be using on Tigress, getting all her gear and her feed. We got the trailer loaded up and connected to the Sequoia and connected the light adapter so that it would connect and fit correctly to the trailer light fixture. Well, it didn't. For some reason or another the trailer lights will not work. It seems that we cannot get the grounding wire to pick up any power. So the fuse is blown or something is up with it. We tried everything we could and gave up. We are going to take her Mom's Yukon down instead. I felt horrible for having to take her vehicle and leave Nik's. I felt even more horrible about the fact they are leaving at 5:30am tomorrow morning to catch a flight and leave to go out of town for about a week and her Dad was working on the Trailer lights until 12:30am. But they seem okay with it, and I apologized about the situation, they said not to worry and it is not my fault.

So I finally got to spend some time with Tigress today. First time seeing her knowing that she is going to be mine. Not technically right now because it is a 6 week trial to figure out if I am cut out for this horse thing. If everything goes well she will be mine and I will buy her next fall and bring her back down. She is not a very affectionate horse. Nik told me that was the only thing I would not really like about her. She said other than that she is bomb-proof, will let you do anything with her, is highly trained and will teach me as I get to know her and ride her. I would prefer a horse that is affectionate like Cowboy who acts like a big dog. He puts his head and nuzzles anyone he meets. But I understand that it is her personality and she will be teaching me so many things. I think I will be able to connect with her though. I know she is not affectionate and is independant, but I am hoping that one way or another I will be able to feel a connection with her.

Tigress's Stats:
Breed: Foundation Quarter Horse
Age: 24
Height: 14.2 hands
I will be using an Austrilian Saddle.
I will learn English riding for now so I can build good techinque and form. After I learn a bit of that I will figure out if I want to do the Western or English riding, or both. I am very intersted in Barrel Racing and Western is more my style, but I am open to both.

Anyway, we leave tomorrow morning hopefully. The roads are icy so we are leaving later on in the morning so we don't run into any ice.

The Rices want to talk to me about some stuff with me working at the barn to pay off some of her board. I will write about that a bit later on tomorrow or Sunday.
