first half of second rec; directly after dinner lockup loadsavedgame January 14 2009, 05:57:01 UTC
When it came time for lockup, he'd found himself being ushered out of the rec room for dinner, someone jogging at his elbow. He didn't get in trouble - apparently he wasn't anywhere he wasn't supposed to be, so he got up, spoke to Claire, telling her where he was going, that he had to go help Hisoka with his memory, assuring her that he'd be back, giving her hand a squeeze and then heading back to his room. He sat on the chair by the desk, ate his dinner, waited for the churning in his gut to stop, and then when the doors were unlocked again, he went out into the hallway.

He had a cigarette in the hall, eyes watchful to make sure there was no security, and when he finished, he walked just down the hallway to Hisoka's room, and gave a knock before pushing the door just a bit open, "Hisoka?" he asked, "It's Matt."

"I'm here," Hisoka called. It was Matt, from the accent, a suspicion confirmed when the slight boy in the high-collared fur vest came through the door. It had been a difficult day. Beyond a difficult day. An impossible fucking day, and Hisoka had spent much of it feverishly recording what he'd managed to recover, in case he forgot half of it again tomorrow. Those scribbled pages were hastily shoved in a drawer as Hisoka turned to look at Matt.

"I appreciate your coming by," he said, a bit more formally than what was perhaps required. But Hisoka was weary and in pain, and hiding behind the formalities that had been drilled into him since he was small was easier than simply relating person to person.

He slipped inside, and closed the door behind himself, watching the boy as he moved inside the room. He looked tired, and Matt soothed his emotions down, a force of control that wasn't so familiar anymore. He leaned against the door, and watched him for a moment, head tilted, "No problem." he said, his voice low, eyes locked on the pretty, frail-looking boy who'd been so familiar and important just a few days ago and who he hardly knew now.

He pushed a hand back through his hair, exhausted in every way possible - physical, emotional, mental. But he forced a little smile, "So..." he started, his voice low and curious, "What are you up to over here?"

Matt bit his lip, then, feeling stupid, not really knowing what to say to him, so he hunched his shoulders, then dropped them, just looking at the floor, keeping himself calm.

Matt didn't feel like much of anything at all except exhaustion, although there were things the English boy was trying to hide bubbling beneath the surface of that wanness. Hisoka frowned. "I thought you knew what I was up to," he said slowly. "You said you knew what I am, that you'd experienced it before -- right ( ... )

He nodded a bit, his face staying calm. He'd been practicing staying calm despite emotions a lot today, and it was almost becoming second nature, "Yes, well. I thought it might be..." he said, and added after a moment, "I wanted you to tell me yourself." he paused again, "You...haven't seemed comfortable with me knowing about you. Since ( ... )

Hisoka blinked. "I'm not comfortable with anyone knowing about me," he said, flatly. "It's not necessary. When I first came here I said entirely too much." He paused, then shrugged. "If everyone already knows everything, why should I repeat myself?" Even if Hisoka didn't see it as repeating himself, because he couldn't remember having said it the first time, could only remember it through other people's visions, others' first times ( ... )

He nodded as the boy said that, that people didn't need to know about him, that he said too much. He sighed, rubbing at an eye again, "I know what you mean." he mumbled, "I did the same thing. Maybe it's fear, maybe it's just reaching out. Either way...yeah." his voice fumbled off, and then Hisoka was touching him, his delicate, almost fragile hand touching Matt's own. His fingers curled subconsciously around it, holding it in place but not forcing the contact. He knew from experience how difficult this kind of thing was for Hisoka, and if he'd been doing it all day, possibly catching things like his death, things that sent him into a spiral of empathetic feedback - he had to be exhausted and emotionally drained ( ... )
