Hige's heart hadn't stopped racing since the moment he'd heard Sasuke's battered voice over the intercom, sounding even more frail that it did when the boy's injuries from before were still fresh. His heart sank and sat heavily in his chest, a feeling that he wasn't usually accustomed to when losing others around him, but goddammit, Sasuke was all he had left in this place Hell, and it was unfair that everything be designed to beat the ninja down and tear him apart, especially when Hige had made it out so unscathed. He had nothing to feel bad about or nothing to relate and share Sasuke's pain with him.
He'd been terrified. Worried that he would lose the only person that he could call a friend within these walls, and couldn't do a thing about it but standby and try to smile like he always did, reassuring himself that things were always going to be okay when in reality everybody could plainly see that things were not, and it was more and more becoming impossible to say that they ever would so long as they were trapped in here.
For the first time in a long time, he wanted to run again. He wanted so much just to sprint across the barren wastelands that he called home. He'd even take running through the freezing snow again if he had to, risking being attacked by another walrus just to get away from everything the release all the frustration and energy built up in his muscles. Instead though, he put it to whatever use he could, which would be going to Sasuke and doing whatever he could to somehow get back that fragile hope that everything would somehow become easier and work out.
It didn't take him long to find the new room that his friend had been moved to. The room itself was located in a corner of the cell block, not really hidden, but had been passed over unnoticed for the longest time. Hige didn't need to know where it was though to find it, because he'd never be able to lose track of Sasuke. He knew the ninja's scent all to well by now, having spent so much time amongst it that picking it up was slowly becoming second nature.
He knocked on the door heavily, holding his blanket in his arms, and waiting for the door to open and let him in. For once, the lazy wolf was more than active, bouncing on the balls of his feet nervously as he stood there.
"Sasuke!" He called to the people inside, letting the ninja know that it was him, that it was safe and that he had shown up like he said that he would.
