Only when Naruto was involved did Anubis ever feel so possessive and jealous and... Just like he was some insecure human.
Didn't Naruto understand what he mean, or how he felt, or that there was at least something wrong with seeing a girl he liked today of all days!? It didn't matter if they both were wearing sheets. They were thin, and as far as the god suddenly felt, they'd both still be naked.
It was frustrating and, even worse, embarrassing, because he knew that there was no reason to be worried or feel this way, but... Before he and Naruto were together, before she disappeared, Anubis had tried to help Naruto win her over... And even with the boy's assurances, he couldn't help but feel like maybe he still would want to be with her instead of him.
He hated himself for it, but at least he'd finally resolved not to think about it anymore, or at least not make it known that he was thinking about it. He wasn't allowed to be selfish or jealous anymore, not when people could see that, could notice that something was bothering him when he was supposed to be in control.
He knocked once on Naruto's cell door before opening it without waiting for a response, standing stark naked in the doorway. He never did care about laundry day, or about having to cover up a body that was only his on loan, not like he even had a choice since Shira took the bed when there was nothing he could do.
Scanning around the room, making sure that Naruto's roommate wasn't there, he walked over to the bed where the ninja was sitting, and flopped onto it. After a minute and sat up behind Naruto and wrapped his arms around the boy's waist, resting his head on Naruto's shoulders.
"You're a jerk," He muttered softly, so that the intercom wouldn't hear.
If he couldn't be jealous or selfish, if Naruto just had to see her, then Anubis would be the last person he saw before leaving, and the first when he returned.
