Someone must have traduced Joseph K., for without having done anything wrong he was arrested.

Day: 37 (backdated)
Characters: Darien Fawkes quickfawkes, Miles Edgeworth mentis_reae, Shira cut_em_open
Summary: Is Shira a bad dude? Yes he is. Can we suspect him of all the murders ever? Fuck yeah, rawk.
DAY/NIGHT & Time: Evening
Status: Incomplete/Closed

Shira, out of all the patients, was the obvious suspect. Merely the things he said marked him out as such: his demeanor, his inclination towards violence, his cruelty. He targeted women, and both the victims killed in those successive days had been female. And - Edgeworth knew this shouldn't have been a factor. Justice was about punishing people for crimes they had committed, not crimes they might in the future commit. Yet even so, he wished fervently that it was Shira who had done it, because then there might be some way in which to protect Rin from Shira's retribution, might be a way in which to make the asylum safer.

But his wishes had absolutely no reflection upon the reality of the situation. If Shira had done it, he'd done it; if not, then not. And the investigation would reflect that.

He supposed he was grateful to Fawkes for meeting him. He hadn't been particularly polite to the man, to be certain, when - in spite of everything, in spite of his position on staff, he actually seemed to be a decent man. Edgeworth regretted that a bit, truthfully. He didn't seem the sort to hurt someone, and guilt was not necessarily bestowed by association. If he were to have someone watching his back, as it were, he'd have liked Kelly before anyone else - but he could do worse than Fawkes.
