The day could not have gone much worse.
After finding Momiji-- sweet Momiji, who hadn't meant anyone harm, who hardly knew anyone here, and yet had still encountered the wrath of some unknown bastard-- dead in a pool of blood, he had not thought things could get any worse. But hearing Reeve collapse, hearing Edge being promoted-- even oddly, even temporarily-- and, perhaps worst of all--
Hearing Orochimaru, too, had been reinstated in his old position. Hearing him insinuate that he would come-- that he would be there, watching, at night, even when Jack was asleep. Listening with growing horror as he laughed and taunted Jack once again, as if nothing had changed (and it hadn't, hadn't at all and Reeve was right, it never would, no matter what he or anyone ever did). And now Jack could not even go into his mind and escape the horror anymore, for fear of not returning. He ran a hand through his hair, trying to block out the memories. At least meeting with Quatre and Harry had gone well-- he'd enjoyed seeing his friend again, and putting a face to a voice. Even if the task itself hadn't been very much fun, the conversation, at least, was the most uplifting thing he'd done all day.
Evening slowly began to fall and Jack wandered back Harry's room, he passed cell nineteen. Hesitating, he slowly walked back, knocking on her door. Nami hadn't spoken up this morning, when Rin made her rolecall, and part of him dreaded opening the door in case. But he needed-- needed just to make sure. Make sure no doctor had crept in last night or this morning, during all the chaos, and sedated her or worse. Because she wasn't the type to simply stay silent-- not especially during chaos like that-- and so it was more worrying, in some ways, than any scream or cut off words might have been.
