She moved a little closer, chafing at his hand awkwardly, tempted to go in for a hug. A little too risky to venture that far, probably - he was still injured, after all. She didn't want to jog him. "You should move carefully," she murmured. "God knows what would happen if you tore something." As if the rosary wasn't bad enough already...

Cross' presence was soothing already. He reminded her of Manji, in a way, if Manji had bathed a little more and been more debonair. He had the same sort of poise, and he was even more coolheaded than her erstwhile bodyguard. He gave off the impression of being able to handle anything at any time.

At his question, Rin looked down again, her throat closing off somewhat. "Anubis traded my life for the lives of five other people to Shira," she whispered. "This was weeks ago. He said he'd let Shira do anything to me without any promise of aid in exchange for Shira not attacking those people."

It was a deal that was constantly on her mind. Self-centered, perhaps, but she honestly did fear for her life, and no one except Matt even seemed inclined to call Anubis on his partnership.

"I can't believe people like Edgeworth and Reeve can tolerate that and still call themselves just men. Everything that Shira's done, Anubis has indirectly condoned... if he h-had the power to stop him, he should've. A-and he hasn't."

Abruptly, she closed both her hands around Cross', pressing against his palm and shaking his hand a little in agitation. "We have so many enemies already! And he's selling people out - he sold me out - and no one even cares! And if we e-even have the ghost of a chance at getting anything done, I think it's together - but I can't work with someone who'd do that kind of thing!"

Abruptly she cut off, staring at Cross pleadingly, willing him to understand. Rin was no one's willing sacrifice, and as much as she wanted to help other people at the asylum, she wouldn't play as Anubis' sacrificial lamb. Not for anything - almost.
