Which pokemon means more to more depends on how much I liked them in merch form or in other material, like fan comics for instance. This has happened once with Quilava and Raichu and twice with Braixen and Jolteon, four of which I'd have passed on if I stuck with the games. I noticed some nice stickers with Weavile on them and that's how I decided to buy a sitting plush of it. Same thing with Scorbunny minus the plush.
Some friends irl like certain Pokemon and I look at those with admiration (Meowth, Dodrio, Dragonair).
The PMD merch look absolutely incredible! They put so much personality in the series. :D
