Despite the whole NASCAR atmosphere surrounding Oxford (in Talladega county), it was pretty cool. One of the easiest installs and everything that could've gone right did.
Assembly and system integration went perfectly. No flaws with the drivers or the database. And the med. tech that we trained was really pretty clever and picked everything up quickly. We could've left at about 11 on the first day, but stuck around because of the whole contract thing. Beginner's luck, I suppose, but still... it was kind of a proud moment for me to know that I did almost everything for the install by myself. My trainer, Tom, was really only there for training.
When I got back to work on Thursday, I joked with all the other engineers, saying "I don't know what the big deal is." It was seriously a really smooth install, but the higher ups are talking about maybe signing off on my training after the third install -- usually it's the fourth. They might send me out to help out with an upgrade installation in Nevada as early as next week (wouldn't count towards my three 'cause it's a different type of install), and my next really install could be as early as the 25th or 26th of this month.
I like feeling appreciated. I might just stick around for this thing for a while...
