So we're now up in the Series, 2-0. This is good news. I would've liked more run support from the so-called "Strand Sox," but a W is a W and I can't complain about the results... even if it's not the best thing for my heart.
Next Game is Saturday at 8:00pm, and Molly and I are going to do a repeat of last weekend. That is, a trip to Dewey's in Portland to watch the entirety of the game at "my bar" with other like-minded strangers. Jaimi: You gotta send Russ down again for good luck! :) Of course, anybody is free to join in if they can swing it. Game 4 will be spent with my brother, who is going to do his part to get me hungover for my first big day at the Post Office. That feat will be a gimme if the Sox do it in 4 like they did in '04.
Thinking about the Sox going big in the Series is sort of getting me nostalgic for the Sox' 2004 run, though. I think me and the Boyz went out to Uno's for their $2 Killian's Drafts every night of the Series that I wasn't working (NOTE: that beer special is no longer in effect), and on the last night... it was incredible.
I begged my co-RA's for the night off, but nobody wanted to cover so I called in a few favors to get off-campus. Greg, Roy, Nick, Isaac, Pat, Adam, Alana, me, and I know I'm forgetting a bunch of others headed back to Uno's to watch the game and we got the worst seats possible in the restaurant because of the size of our party, but we still could watch the game and drink. Drunk-dialed my dad to make sure he was up and got the news (he was drunk, too); Alana drove me back to campus and she wound up spending the night with me; UMaine arranged for a quiet riot that everybody attended. I remember running into my friend Emmy Kelley there and she was also drunk and crying... she -- like the rest of us -- never thought it would happen in our lifetime. I think that was the night that Alana, Pat and I crashed a party in DTAV, too, but nobody really cared... The Sox did it, y'know?
Yeah, I'm going to remember that night for a long time. A lot of me wishes that we could do it all again just like back in '04, but even if we could get everybody back together on last time, the conditions would be different. You can never go back to before... but I wouldn't mind another two W's to relive those glory days. It's good to feel like a winner.
