First family outing on First Thursday

Jun 11, 2008 21:17

I finished up the kids' outfits for the First Thursday event in Austin. I desperately wanted to get my son to say "Pardon me, madam. I am the Key Master. Might you be the Gate Keeper?" Of course, he's never seen Ghost Busters, so he though I was just being silly.

The whole crew:
L to R back row: Synj_Munki, Remi Thursday, Star (me!), and Clair De Lune
Front row: Philly Thursday, Jr., Professor Smaugo, and The Dread Pirate Red
Not pictured: my incredibly good-humored, mundanely dressed mother-in-law, the photographer.

If you should encounter a robot, dance with it!

Professor Smaugo. I need to make or find him some braces (aka suspenders).

Detail of pocket watch chain, assembled of jewelry findings from Michael's.
Waistcoat made by me from McCalls 4290, fabric selected by him. "I want keys, so I can lock things up!"
Shirt is store-bought
I didn't realize until after I saw the photos that the front pockets look uneven - I sewed the buttons on out of position. I just need to re-attach them.
If I ever get around to it, I'll post a dress diary for it and my outfit (the blue in the group shot) to
sewingsteam.

The Dread Pirate Red.
Dress is vintage (1940's?) cotton velveteen.
Petticoats made by synj_munki.
Hat and sword are props from last Halloween (purchased at a thrift store).

Back view. I intend to make her a sash and bow from the same copper fabric that I used on Prof. Smaugo's lapels and my corset binding. In some light, it's exactly the same shade as her hair.
