I'm putting the finishing touches on a costume for a con (ok, realistically, I've got a long way to go), and I could use some input.
Upfront:
1. It's veering a little (lot) off neo-Victorian into a sort of steam punk fantasy, so is a little out of scope for more traditional ideas of what fits with the steam punk genre. (I have a couple traditional outfits, wanted something a little different.)
2.I like color. A lot. My other outfits are all browns and sepias. This one is decidedly not.
3. It needs ironing.
4. I can't wear/carry gear that will get in the way of my motion. This is for me to wear as I GM a live action game (yes, geeky, I know) and I have to be fully mobile to jump to my players.
5. The persona is Samantha Merriweather, gear maker, inventor and gadgeteer, so I know I've got to up the gadget content by a factor of about a thousand.
ETA: I'm also going to probably wear these, because the jacket is only 3/4 sleeve:
I just feel like it's not -finished- yet. I have very short, curly hair, and am wearing a brown bowler hat, but I feel like it needs something to take it over the top, and tie things together.
Basically, I feel like the bones are here, but what really makes it and _outfit_ isn't. I feel like it's too far into fantasy right now, like all the elements work, but collectively it doesn't quite come together.
Input is sought and deeply appreciated.
ETA: Thanks to input I've made some significant, and very, very good changes. Will post pictures of the updated costume on me later today.
