How have we all made it this far in our lives without incorporating bolo ties into our everyday wardrobes? This seems unacceptable. Does anybody want to join me in the revolution?
I am back from an 8-day foray to such places as Indianapolis, Evansville, Owensboro, Rockport, more Indianapolis, and Chicago. It was fun to be driving around with my mom and little brother for a week, and good to get back to Indiana for the first time in 4+ years and see all of our relatives/family friends again. Things aren't the same as they used to be though. My grandma is getting really old, and more crotchety than ever. Rockport isn't the same without Aunt Frances there. Patty's kids are getting so old -- Samantha (who was a baby when I last saw her) is now 6 and little Ray (who did not exist last time I saw Patty) is now 4.
My mom and Jack and I are funny together. We are good travel companions, because we are all pretty easy-going and laugh at all of our stupid jokes and are good at taking turns driving and picking music and sitting in the almighty Throne. It makes driving halfway across the country seem quick and easy.
And: Eeeek! My summer is already almost halfway over! Action mode starts NOW. I've been getting busier lately though, which is good for prodding me into action and productivity and general satisfaction.
Coming soon:
*Buy climbing gear. Climb as much as possible between now and THEN. Even if this means joining the climbing gym all alone and befriending cute and single male climbers.
*Alternate Climbing Plan: convince Jackboy to become a hardcore climber with me. Convince him to invest in climbing gear. He'd be a perfect belay partner: we're almost the same size and height and weight.
*Select a paint color. Purchase paint. Paint bedroom. Rearrange furniture in the process.
*Sunday: Rockies game with Dad. Maybe we'll win this time.
*MORE HOT DATES! (hopefully)
*Research research research so that I can have something awesome to do when college is over and I am not ready to go to grad school yet.
*Get a new digital camera, one that captures color really well. Give old camera to Paige.
*Go camping. And, correspondingly, hiking.
*Write letters. (If you want one, give me your address. If not, I will either have to start pestering people or just mailing letters to Whitman and hoping they forward quickly.)
*ADVENTURE.
