The human body has a remarkable propensity to help one ignore pain, or at least set it aside in order to get task done. From the scrape to the bruise to the minor headache to the strain, the brain can help short-circuit the "deal with me now!" messages that pain sends.
And then there's toothache.
Suffice to say that I'm feeling like a grumpy bastard because the minor dull ache that started 2 nights ago has become a screeching omnipresent stabbing and throbbing that Anbesol barely touches. At least the drinking of both cool and hot fluids helps muffle the pain so that I can function socially. I just hope my dentist has a spot open today for a check-up.
I'm mildly bugged because I was under the impression that a root canal is supposed to essentially kill the nerves feeding a tooth (that's where my ache is -- underneath a crown where I'd had my root canal).
