What the hell. In this clip from Star Trek: The Next Generation, Scotty mentions Kirk bringing the Enterprise out of retirement to rescue him (believing he was still in the 23rd century). However, in the movie Star Trek Generations, Scotty clearly believes Kirk is dead, while still being in the 23rd century.
