*sigh* It's going to be an expensive new year. I've bought a shiny new camera, which is lovely; but just after we got back my desktop compy died. As far as we can tell the power supply has failed. (It died when I was playing a death knight in WoW - apparently they really are just that awesome.)
We took it into the Apple Centre yesterday for one of their 'geniuses' to take a look at. She looked up the serial number, then told us that because it's 5 years old, it's a 'vintage' mac, and not only is she not allowed to take it in to repair, she isn't even allowed to pull the information off the hard drive for us, or show us how to remove the hard drive ourselves.
For a company trying to improve its environmental profile, that seems remarkably sucky, let alone the customer service implications. I've rung up to complain, but apparently I can't even do that without a serial number.
I'm seriously considering not buying Apple from now on; that really irritates me > <
Of course, I'm currently very sore and cranky, so I may feel differently later.
