There was an itchy feeling to being
without anything useful to do.
Shuuhei felt adrift, unanchored, at the mercy of wind and waves, metaphorically speaking, whenever he had no work to do. It was as though without any work he was insignificant, unacknowledged and unacknowledgeable by the world. So, having finished all his duties on the Creeping Limit, Shuuhei wandered, aimless. Whenever he had spare time on his hands he found it to be like a web of thread tangled in his fingers, bafflesome and impossible to make anything of. So Shuuhei found himself walking through the corridors of the Creeping Limit, going nowhere in particular. It was rare for him to have nothing to do, no odd chores, nothing he had been meaning to do sometime when he had all his main duties completed.
Drawing to a halt, Shuuhei realized that his steps had lead him to the engine room. After a brief hesitation, he opened the door and entered. He hadn't spent much time in the engine room -- he got the distinct impression that it was Hinamori's domain -- but it struck him that perhaps she could use someone to help with something -- just anything to do. "Hinamori-san," he said by way of announcing himself. After a brief hesitation, he continued, "I was just wondering if there was anything I could help you with...?" He smiled briefly. "I've finished all my other duties and helping you seems a better thing to do than just aimless meandering."
