[Rhode Kamelot is in Allen Walker's room.

... whether or not he knows this is still to be determined to those watching.

But she's sitting on the mattress, legs crossed, tossing a can of food between her two hands like a ball, looking sorely displeased.

Those that actually know her know that Rhode is displeased because she is limited, trapped, ( Read more... )

[He knows this. He knows this too well, because he's sitting on the only chair in the room. The only chair in the room, which has been drawn right up to the window should he find himself in need a quick, hopefully loli-less escape route. Timcanpy's perched in his lap, occasionally baring his pointy teeth at Rhode.]

It's a little hard to come by in Nesreca, you know.

[Rhode is sorely tempted to bare her teeth right back at Timcanpy, but she resists the childish urge, and tilts her head back to look at Allen.]

But not in other places.

[Allen quirks an eyebrow in return.]

And we're not in other places.

We could be.

It's bad enough that we're taking food from them, you know. We're not going to start taking what we don't need.

They're the ones who left us in this dump starving to death. We can take whatever we want. It's their fault we're here.

Not precisely. Libitina's the one who dumped us here, they're just scared. It's not their fault people are suddenly showing up in a place they're already terrified of.

You see the good in everything, Allen ~ ♥

[It kinda ticks her off.]

Where is this Libitina girl?

[There's the slightest pause because he doesn't think in those terms, followed by a simple:]

It's true, that's all. I've only seen Libitina on the communicator before, and she doesn't show up that often, but she'll probably answer if you address her on the network.

[He knows this from experience.]

Maybe I'll do that, then.

I have some things to say.

[It's either a terrible idea or the best idea Rhode has ever had.]

[A side-long look at that.]

I'll warn you first, she never gives a straight answer.

[So please don't fly off the handle if the game proves to be frustrating.]

It's better than sitting here and waiting for something to happen. I'm not going to stay here.

I'm not saying I'll stop you. In fact, I'll appreciate it if you can actually get anything out of her. Just know it won't be easy, we've all tried before.

[She hates this, working with the Exorcists. Allen is different -- Allen is Allen. He sets himself apart from the others just by who he is. He is Family, he is Different.

But working with Kanda Yuu and Howard Link -- working with the people working to destroy them, calling themselves false Prophets --

It makes her want to scream.]

It's better than just sitting here and waiting.

[It's the closest she'll get to aligning herself with them.]

[Have a sober nod. This is one thing Allen can agree with too wholeheartedly, and given their current situation, he's glad for any bit of common ground, glad it gives him something to work with, glad she's choosing to be reasonable so far, and―]

Thank you, by the way. For the other day.

[Credit where it's due, whatever her motives might've been. Allen knows he would have regained control eventually even without her interference, but 'eventually' is nowhere near good enough.]

[She looks over in mild surprise, confusion in her eyes as Rhode tries to think of what he could possibly be talking about.

Until her brow furrows slightly as it connects.

The Fourteenth. The Traitor. Neah.

She stretches out her legs, feet hitting the floor as she stands, but for once, Rhode keeps the space between them. The can of food hits the mattress with a soft 'thump' as her hands go behind her back.

She won't say 'you're welcome', because Rhode doesn't even like that she helped keep the Fourteenth in line in the first place. Is that what she was supposed to do? Is that what the Earl wanted? To keep the Fourteenth at bay or to have him fully awaken? Rhode didn't even know anymore -- and Allen's presence made her ordinarily black and white loyalty moderately fuzzy, which ticked her off.

So, instead, her eyes harden.]

It's going to get worse, Allen.
