I've finished my painting, and, to be frank, I quite like it. At AC Moore the other day, I decided randomly to buy a canvas and some modeling paste (possibly the most fun medium to play with, I highly recomend it). I think that next time I travel to some place that can sell me some canvas, I'll buy a few more. The piece I just did gave me an idea for a series that I would love to do. I hardly ever get good ideas, so I feel like I have to hang on with a deathgrip to those that I do come by.

I love the city more than anything else, but I'm not sure why. You can get lost in a city -- in a totally different way than one sinks into suburbia. I love it, honestly. There isn't much of myself that I can say with any sort of definince (is that a word? I don't think so...), but I do know, without any doubt, that the city is, if not where I belong, then at least where I want to be.

The painting is de coupage (sp?) newspaper over the canvas, with streaks of color built up over the textured modeling paste. The four corners are squares of torn carboard and there is a spray-painted line across the top and bottom that reminds me of asphalt. It's called Urbana #1, seeing as that I plan to do more in the series.

There is a woman who is opening a gallery of mostly her own work on main street. She is involved in something called 'painting 365,' meaning, she paints a something every day.
every day.
I can't imagine.

Today will be a good day.
